The short version

HeartbeatMac runs entirely on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking. The apps you run, their history, your project names and folders never leave your Mac.

What stays on your Mac

HeartbeatMac reads process, memory, CPU, disk, network, GPU, battery and sensor figures from macOS to show them to you. It keeps up to 30 days of history in one file at ~/Library/Application Support/HeartbeatMac/history.sqlite. You can delete it any time from Settings ▸ Clear History, or by deleting the file.

Per-app volume works by tapping an app's audio and playing it back louder or quieter. Audio is never recorded or stored.

What goes online

Only licence activation. When you press Activate or Deactivate, HeartbeatMac sends your licence key, the seller's organisation id and a label naming your Mac's model (for example "Mac14,2") to Polar's licence service, so you can tell your Macs apart in the customer portal. Nothing else, and never at any other time.

Buying

Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record. They process your name, email address and payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can send your licence and help with support.
